The Datong River Hydropower Project is an innovative initiative that harnesses the hydrological resources of the Datong River to produce clean and renewable electricity. This run-of-river hydro plant generates zero emissions electricity for the local power grid, utilizing the natural flow of the river without the need for large reservoirs. The hydro-power plant is composed of a concrete gravity dam, release sluice, channels, powerhouse, and switch station, and has the capacity to generate up to 150 MW of electricity, enough to power thousands of homes. This project is crucial for reducing dependence on fossil fuels and protecting the environment, while providing reliable electricity and creating job opportunities for the local community.
SPIL has implemented a 5 MW cogeneration power project in India that utilizes rice husk to generate power. This project features a 5 MW extraction-cum-condensing steam turbine with alternator, along with a 50 TPH capacity single drum travel grate type boiler for producing process steam. The cogeneration power project generates 5 MW of power using sustainable and renewable rice husk, helping to reduce GHG emissions from electricity generation, which would otherwise be generated by coal-based power plants. The use of the 5 MW extraction-cum-condensing steam turbine with alternator allows for the efficient production of process steam required in the paper machine section. By utilizing rice husk, this project helps to reduce coal consumption in India’s electricity generation, contributing to a sustainable future.
The Shiyazi 140 MW Hydro Power Project is a diversion type hydropower station located in Meilin canyon between Daping town and Baicun town, Wuchuan Country, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, China. It has a total installed capacity of 140 MW and an estimated annual operation time of 3416 hours. This project generates an average of 478,200 MWh of electricity annually and is expected to feed 467,300 MWh of electricity to the grid each year. The electricity generated by the project will meet the electricity demand of industrial and agricultural production as well as the daily life in Zunyi City. Additionally, it will be able to adjust the peak in the local grid, ensuring a steady supply of electricity to the China Southern Power Grid.
The Kumkoy Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in Samsun, Turkey, generates electricity using the natural flow of water. With a capacity of 17.50 MW, this run-of-river project has a significant positive impact on the environment and the local community. Kumkoy HPP harnesses the power of the river to generate clean energy, avoiding the need for fossil fuels, and is expected to produce 49,205 tonnes of Social Carbon labeled VCUs each year, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project has created job opportunities for the local community, helping to stimulate the local economy. Investing in this project helps reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change, while also benefiting the local community through job creation and economic development.
